Colgate Ready for 2025 Season
HAMILTON - The Raiders open their 2025 account on the road against Stonehill in Easton, Mass. Colgate defeated the Skyhawks 3-1 in Hamilton last season with goals coming from Liam Winograd, Conor Geraghty, and Cason Stafford, all returning this season.
"The group is ready for the start of the season. Our pre-season training has been spirited, intense and productive," Coach Ronning said. "We have a very challenging schedule, beginning with Stonehill, which will test us from day one. The team is very driven and are doing the right things to be successful in the long run."
"We aim to continue to make forward strides every day; every week. I am very excited to see where this talented group can go."
RETURNING TALENT
Colgate returns a large number of their offensive talent from last season including the 2024 Patriot
League Rookie of the Year Blake Pipkin. Of the 25 goals scored by the maroon and white last season, 19 of
them were scored by returning talent.
On the defensive side of the ball, Liam Winograd returns for his fourth season as a Raider. The senior has
logged 51 appearances for Colgate in his first three years and tallied two goals last season.
In between the pipes, Eric Widrick heads into his fourth season at Colgate. Widrick made his first career
appearance last year against Lafayette and earned a 2-1 victory. The senior started two more games in 2024
falling in both contests.
NEWCOMERS
Colgate added eight first years and one transfer to the returning 19 student-athletes that went to the Patriot
League Championship.
Transfer Malik Samms will don the maroon and white this season after appearing in 30 games for Middlebury
College over the last two seasons. The defender stands 6-1 and was selected Top Drawer Top 75 class of
2023.
The first year's include four defenders, one midfielder, two forwards, and a goalkeeper. They arrive from six
different states and all bring high level experience from leagues and development programs.
PRESEASON RECOGNITION
Blake Pipkin earned a spot on the 2025 Preseason All-Patriot League Team alongside teammate Cason
Stafford. Both were selected to last season All-Patriot League teams with Pipkin earning second team and
Stafford was selected onto the third team.
