STORRS, Conn. - The Raiders suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday, dropping a 3-0 match to UConn at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.

COACH RONNING'S COMMENTS
"It was a tough loss against a strong team. We really competed and executed in the First 45 minutes. A 5 minute stretch at the start of the second half changed the game, and I have to do a much better job ensuring the group is prepared to compete at the highest level. No excuses, we just have to be better. "

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both teams came out with strong defensive starts, not allowing either team to create a quality chance.
  • Charlie Yates nearly found the back of the net but the UConn keeper made the save.
  • Colgate was outshot 7-3 in the first 45 minutes.
  • The Huskies took the lead early in the second frame with a long shot finding the top left corner.
  • UConn would double its lead moments later with a backpost header.
  • First years Ryan Schachter and Cole Ramey each had looks in the second half but were unable to capitalize.
  • UConn scored its third with less than a minute to go and Colgate fell 3-0.
