CAMBRIDGE, MASS. --- The men's tennis team competed at the 2024 ITA Division I Men's New England Regional championships, where they played from Thursday through Saturday night. The Raiders picked up three singles wins along with one main draw doubles win, capping a successful tournament competing amongst the region's best.

"I was overall very impressed and proud with the level of play and competition this week," said assistant coach Jake Sandler. "We were not scared to compete against Ivy League teams at the highest level. We had four great wins and got great experience and reps for everyone. Very happy to have all four seniors captains compete, and I am very excited for the future of this team."

Play started with singles qualifying on Thursday, where senior Benito Vlassis, junior Aidan Lee, and sophomore Jerome Falcon all competed.

Vlassis opened up play with a three set victory over the fifth-seeded Fairfield player, winning 6-3, 3-6, (10-4). Lee won his first round match against Siena 6-3, 6-1. Falcon dropped a tight three setter, 1-6, 7-6, (4-10) to a strong Yale opponent.

In the second round, Vlassis and Lee fell to Brown and Dartmouth, respectively. In his consolation match, Falcon picked up a solid 4-6, 6-2, (10-6) victory over Brown.

Main draw play began on Friday, where the Raiders had four doubles teams in action, along with senior Josh Israel in the singles draw.

In the doubles action, Vlassis and Israel picked up an 8-3 victory over Brown to advance into the second round. Lee and junior Aidan Chung fell 3-8 to Dartmouth, sophomore duo Falcon and Parker Mcgowan lost 3-8 to a different Dartmouth team, and seniors Ben Graham and Mikey Weitz were defeated by Yale, 4-8. Israel dropped a heartbreaker in the first round of singles, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6 to a stout Harvard opponent.

The Raiders finished up on Saturday with Vlassis and Israel's second round doubles match, where they fell to a seeded Harvard team 3-8.

Colgate returns to action on Friday, Oct. 25, for the Patriot League Fall Individual Tournament hosted at West Point.
