ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Raiders used clutch free throw shooting and stout defense to collect a tough 76-72 win over Navy in an overtime thriller on Wednesday night.

OVERTIME

The Mids hit a deep triple to open up the overtime period. Sophia Diehl cut the deficit to one from the line before Morgan McMahon pulled up from top of the key and drilled a mid-range jumper tying the game at 67 apiece.

Navy hooked a bucket under the rim to regain its last lead of the game as the Raiders went 9-for-10 down the stretch from the charity stripe and earned a hard fought 76-72 win over Navy.

END OF GAME

The Mids hit two from the line before Morgan McMahon made a clutch free throw to send the game into overtime.

Navy hit a corner three to take a one point lead with 52 seconds left in the game. On the next possession, McMahon found Christina Midgette backdoor who finished the layup and gave Colgate the one-point advantage.

After Midgette hit four consecutive free throws to give Colgate a 57-55 lead with four minutes to play, Anne Bair and Midgette made two back-to-back tough layups underneath in between two free throws from the Mids to take a 61-57 lead.

COACH ADEDUNTAN'S COMMENTS

"That was a gutsy road win. A lot of adversity throughout the game, but we had different people step up when we needed to make plays we did. The sentiments for everyone are from our staff down to our players, I thought we were all locked in, we were all bought into what we were trying to do and we fought. We kept fighting until the last buzzer.

"I'm really proud of Anne Bair and just how steady she was the entire night. I thought she did an excellent job on Barnett-Gay, one of the best players in our league, I thought we were really sound with her. I thought we had players not necessarily asked to play certain roles come in and did their part to help us at really critical times, and critical moments. Winning is not easy, especially on the road, we are really, really proud and we're celebrating this win on this long bus ride back to Hamilton."
