Willis kicks off 2025 season with first Patriot League honors
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — For the first time in her career, Morgan Willis earned week one Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors of the 2025 season.
Willis delivered an exceptional performance by scoring four goals against Lock Haven, achieving one goal in each quarter, leading her team to a 5–3 victory. This accomplishment tied a program record for the most goals scored in a single game, and it marked a career-best for Willis, who amassed a total of eight points in the match. Her outstanding performance helped Colgate secure its first victory over Lock Haven since 2004, contributing to the team's current season record of 1-1.
In addition to her impressive game against Lock Haven, Willis leads the Patriot League in several statistical categories. She holds the top spot in goals with four and is tied for first place in game-winning goals with one, as well as points with eight. Additionally, she ranks second in the league for shots on goal, having recorded nine.
The Colgate Field Hockey team will travel down the road to Cornell for their first road game of the season on Friday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m.
