COACH CORNELL-DEANGELIS' COMMENTS
It was an exciting win for the team today. We were determined to play all out and finish after a hard-fought game on Friday. We had good connections and composure with the ball. Drawing corners and taking quick shots has been a big focus of ours, and the team executed well today and came away with a fantastic win."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dani Palmer put the Raiders ahead 1-0 four minutes into the first. The junior picked the ball up in the circle and dribbled to find space before ripping a shot that flew past the goalie.
- Colgate earned back-to-back corners two and a half minutes into the second. The Raiders could not score on the initial but cashed in on the second when Lily Schoonmaker fired one home. Charlotte Hamilton and Palmer picked up assists.
- The home side got on the board just under nine minutes into the third when Abby Crowley found the back of the cage, making it 2-1. Bryant struck again 45 seconds into the fourth to knot the score at 2-2.
- The Raiders then responded with two straight. Morgan Willis put Colgate back ahead with 3:07 left in the third after she received a pass from Schoonmaker and dribbled down the end line on the right side before slotting a shot past the goalie.
- Palmer notched her second of the contest two minutes later when she got free on a breakaway, beat the goalie, and put a shot into the empty cage.
- The Raiders had three other corners in the fourth and outshout the Bulldogs 5-4 in the quarter.
- Colgate could not put one in during the third but had three corners, including back-to-back opportunities with less than a minute left. Charlotte Hamilton fired a shot following both of the final two corners, with her first getting blocked and her second getting stopped on a defensive save.
- Colgate's defense shut down three straight Bryant penalty corners in the second quarter to hold the Bulldogs scoreless in the first half. Sarah Killcommons also made a big defensive save to deny Bryant.
