NEW HAVEN, Conn. No. 5 Colgate won its third-consecutive contest in comeback fashion, overcoming a one-goal third-period deficit to defeat Yale, 4-3, inside Ingalls Rink on Saturday night. Four Raiders contributed multi-point efforts in the Raiders' eighth-straight win, including junior forward Elyssa Biederman's third-consecutive two-tally game.

"It was a gritty and hard fought ECAC road weekend," head coach Stefan Decosse said. "We showed excellent resolve throughout the weekend and came together to earn five league points. There were lots of great individual and team moments for us to continue to build on."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After 15 minutes of evenly-played action, fifth-year forward Kristýna Kaltounková broke open the scoring when she unleashed a wrister from the high slot.
  • The lead only held for two minutes, as Yale cashed in on the power play to even the score at one heading into the first intermission.
  • First-year forward Alexia Aubin retook the lead for the Raiders 10 minutes into the second stanza, forcing a puck past the Yale goalie's pad on a Colgate power play.
  • The Bulldogs scored the next two goals, one late in the second and one early in the third, to take a 3-2 lead with 19 minutes remaining in the contest.
  • Sophomore forward Kaia Malachino picked up one of the most impressive assists of the season, laying face down on the ice and narrowly pushing a loose puck in front of the Yale netminder with the very tip of her stick. Classmate Madeline Palumbo backhanded the pass over an outstretched goalie pad, evening the score a three.
  • Just over a minute later, Biederman buried the game-winner, Colgate's second power-play goal of the evening, emerging in isolation out of a puck battle in front of the net for her first game-winning goal of the season.

GAME NOTES

  • Senior netminder Hannah Murphy made 25 saves in her 10th win of 2024.
  • It is the seventh time this season Colgate has had four or more skaters chip in a multi-point effort.
  • Sophomore forward Emma Pais improved her point streak to 11 games, tallying 15 points in that span. She has logged a point in all but one game so far this season.
