Murphy Voted Goalie of the Year Semifinalist
HAMILTON – Senior Hannah Murphy was selected a Women's Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) Goalie of the Year Semifinalist, one of just two netminders to earn the honor for the second-straight year.
The reigning ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week has already made a career-high 719 saves this season, tied for the fourth-most in the country and best in the conference.
The Bradford, Ontario, native is third in the country with 20 wins, and her season save percentage (.939) ranks 10th in the nation and third in the league. Murphy's 1.88 goals against average is also top-20 in the entire NCAA Division I.
In seven of her last eight outings, Murphy has posted more than 30 saves, including two 40+ save performances and a career-high 55 stops, the most by any ECAC goalie in the country this year.
The HCA Goalie of the Year Semifinalists are nine goalies from four NCAA Division I conferences that have advanced from a "Watch List" of 33 outstanding netminders. Voting was conducted by a national panel of coaches, administrators and media members. Three finalists will be announced during the conference championships and the winner will be announced during this year's NCAA Frozen Four in Minneapolis, Minn.
