SYRACUSE, N.Y.  — Fifth-year Kristýna Kaltounková scored a pair of goals, junior Elyssa Biederman assisted on all three Raider tallies, and sophomore Emma Pais added a pair of points as No. 5 Colgate defeated Syracuse, 3-1, inside Tennity ice Pavilion on Friday night.   

"That trio has been very consistent through the first half of the season," head coach Stefan Decosse said. "We lean on them a lot offensively, and they came through in key moments tonight. Credit to Syracuse as they sort of took the game over in the final 40, but we'll watch the film and make adjustments so we can finish the first half of the season at the height of our game tomorrow." 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Colgate started the scoring after outshooting Syracuse 9-1 to open the first frame. 
• Pais added her eighth goal of the season at the 13:35 mark of period one, cashing in on the helpers from Biederman and senior Neena Brick.
• With six minutes remaining in the second stanza, Syracuse equalized off a deflection in front of the net.
• However, not even 90 seconds later, Kaltounková jammed a loose puck into the back of the net from point-blank range to retake a 2-1 advantage for the visitors.
• The Orange rallied behind the home crowd in the final period, outshooting the Raiders and testing senior netminder Hannah Murphy, who made 11 of her 21 saves in the third.
• However, Kaltounková would put the game on ice with under two minutes to play, depositing her second score of the night after Biederman threaded a pass to her stick from behind the net. 

GAME NOTES

• Kaltounková stretched her team-high point streak to nine games, scoring 16 points in that span.
• Biederman earned her second three-point outing of the season and her fifth-career game with three assists. 
• Murphy improved her record to 13-3 in net this year, the second-most wins in the country. 
• Kaltounková also broke the program record for most game-winning goals with 18. 
• Pais added her fifth multi-point performance of the year.
