PRINCETON, N.J. — Senior goalie Hannah Murphy made 39 saves and junior forward Alexis Petford scored for the third-straight game, but No. 5 Colgate fell in overtime to Princeton, 4-3, inside Hobey Baker Rink.
The Raiders never led in a back-and-forth matchup that saw equalizing goals from fifth-year Kristýna Kaltounková and sophomore Madeline Palumbo in addition to Petford's third-period snipe.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Princeton struck first but a power play response off the skate blade of Kaltounková evened the score at one heading into the opening intermission.
- Palumbo and Malachino capitalized on a Tiger turnover in their defensive zone, again knotting the score, this time at two all.
- The Tigers pounced on the Raiders for the remainder of the period, scoring their third go-ahead goal and outshooting the visitors 20-14.
- Colgate scored the only goal of the third period, tying the score at three when Petford unloaded a one-timer from just inside the blue line that snuck past Princeton's netminder.
- In overtime, the Raiders earned three early shots on goal, but none found nylon.
- The Tigers would go on to hit the game-winner just over two minutes into the extra period, sealing Colgate's first league loss of 2024.
