Women's Lacrosse Stumbles Against Quinnipiac

COACH GUIDO'S COMMENTS

"Freshman Maddie Stevens played well in her first ever appearance in the cage. Defense played well in the second half. We just couldn't finish our shots today."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Quinnipiac jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the opening six minutes.
  • Lucy Licata converted a free position shot to cut into the deficit but the Bobcats responded with a fourth goal shortly after.
  • The Raiders fell behind 6-2 after the first quarter.
  • Caroline Panzirer and Grace DelNegro scored sandwiching a Quinnipiac goal to get the Raiders back within three goals.
  • After Quinnipiac scored its eighth goal, Lauren Thompson buried a pass from Panzirer to cut the deficit to 8-5 at halftime.
  • Olivia McDonald scored her third goal of the season but the Bobcats continued to maintain the lead.
  • Both teams traded blows throughout the third quarter, Quinnipiac held onto a 11-8 lead after three quarters.
  • The Bobcats scored two goals in the last seconds of the fourth quarter before Gracie DeSimone scored as the final buzzer went off and the Raiders fell 13-9 in Connecticut.

GAME NOTES

  • Goalkeeper Madison Stevens logged her first collegiate minutes. The first year played 45 minutes and made 11 saves in between the pipes.
  • Caroline Panzirer scored a goal and added two assists to lead the team in points.
  • Lucy Licata picked up 10 draw controls along with two goals.

UP NEXT
Colgate (2-1) returns to action next Saturday for its first game in Hamilton. The Raiders will play host to Cornell at 3 p.m.
