Women’s Tennis Competes at ITA Regionals

HARVARD, Mass. – The women's tennis team competed at the ITA Division I New England Regional Championships, finishing with a 1-5 overall record after three days of play. The Raiders had two singles entrants, along with two doubles teams who took part.

HARVARD, Mass. – The women's tennis team competed at the ITA Division I New England Regional Championships, finishing with a 1-5 overall record after three days of play. The Raiders had two singles entrants, along with two doubles teams who took part. 

The tournament began on Thursday with singles qualifying action, where sophomore Sophia Montero fell to Buffalo, 3-6, 4-6. She bounced back in her consolation match, defeating Stonehill 4-6, 6-3,(10-5).

Action resumed on Friday, where senior captain Addie Eklund competed in main draw singles. She fell to stout opposition in Harvard.

Colgate also had two doubles teams compete in main draw action. First-year Anya Kumar and sophomore Carina Cristobal teamed up, but lost to Providence 5-8. Montero and junior Amelia Galin were defeated by UConn, 4-8.

The Raiders look to bounce back at their last invitational of the fall season, the Patriot League Fall Individual Tournament. The event will be held at West Point with play beginning Friday, Oct. 25.
