HAMILTON The women's tennis team prepares for their first action of the fall season, beginning on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Bloomsburg, Pa. They look to build on an 11 win 2024 campaign, marking a streak of three winning seasons in a row. The squad returns all nine letter winners from last season, while also gaining two new freshmen who hope to make an immediate impact.

"The ladies return all from last season and look to build on our fifth straight winning season," head coach Bobby Pennington said. "We have our top six back along with two high quality freshmen. Our main goal is to be at the minimum a top four seed and advance in the Patriot League tournament."

The women are led by their two returning senior captains, Addie Eklund and Eliza Podlas. "I'm extremely excited to be leading our team this year with Addie," Podlas said. "We've worked incredibly well together since the beginning and I know we have the capability to lead this team to new heights. We have such a talented and hardworking group of girls, and I'm thrilled to be able to see all we can accomplish this upcoming season."

Eklund's stellar 12-7 singles record, along with Podlas's 13-7 doubles record, were catalysts to the team's successes last season.

In addition to the seniors, the squad returns two juniors, Sasha Herman and Amelia Galin, who combined for 13 singles victories last year. Also returning are five sophomores, Gigi Bohan, Sophia Montero, Avery Isaac, Paige Rothwell, and Carina Cristobal. Montero had six victories at line one singles, while Isaac paired with Podlas to accomplish their 13-7 doubles record.

The new additions to the team, Anya Kunar and Rebecca Hess, from Connecticut and New Jersey respectively, look to make their mark on the program at this first invite, which will be followed on September 28th by a home invite at the J.W. Abrahamson Tennis Courts, the second consecutive fall home invite that the women have hosted.
