Shadwick Named Patriot League Player of the Week
HAMILTON – Coming off her heroic effort at Bucknell on Saturday, Colgate senior outside hitter Abby Shadwick was named the Patriot League's Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Shadwick garnered the Patriot League's final weekly honor of the season by registering 21 kills in a winner-take-all five-set reverse sweep at Bucknell on Saturday. She willed the Raiders to a comeback victory, hitting .300 for the match while adding 13 digs for a double-double.
Colgate won the final three sets but none were bigger than the decisive fifth set, where Colgate trailed 14-11 in the first-to-15, win-by-two frame. Shadwick scored the final six points for the Raiders, including five straight kills before her match-winning service ace to give Colgate a 17-15 victory that clinched the program's fourth consecutive regular season title.
This is the first weekly honor of the season for Shadwick, who is a two-time All-Patriot League First Team selection and was named the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year. She is the second Raider to earn Player of the Week this season, joining Milan Bayless (Sept. 24).
