Description
Charles Fuller’s ZOOMAN and the Sign is a story of a boy and a gun, a girl and a family, a neighborhood and a sign, all unfolding in the heat of summer. “These are strange and breathless days, dog days, when people are led to do things they are sure to be sorry for after” (Babbitt).Auditions will be held in Ryan 212 on:January 22, 2025 from 4:30-7 p.m.January 23, 2025 from 8-9:30 p.m.January 24, 2025 from 3-6 p.m.
This play has an all-Black cast.Directed by Xose Agbadan '25.

This event celebrates an Aymara festival that takes place annually in Bolivia and Peru. Participants will create miniature representations of their wishes for the year ahead and offer them to the Iqiqu (Ekeko) statuette, representing a deity of prosperity, in the Longyear Museum of Anthropology permanent collection. dir. Micah Magee, 2015, 93 minutes, followed by Q&A with filmmaker in personSan Antonio, Texas. Petting Zoo is the portrait of a young woman coming into her own, in an environment that does not always present ideal circumstances.Micah Magee grew up in a family of contemporary dancers. Her first education in world cinema was as programming and managing director of Cinematexas International Short Film Festival in Austin, Texas. In 2001, she was awarded a Fulbright Journalism Fellowship from Austin to Berlin. She stayed in Berlin to study film directing at the national German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). In Berlin, Micah wrote and directed a number of award-winning short films, winning the documentary short film award in Oberhausen for Krankenhaus and the German Academy Award (Short Film Lola in Gold) for the fiction short Heimkommen in 2012. Her first fiction feature Petting Zoo, produced and repped by The Match Factory, premiered at the Berlinale Panorama in 2015 and picked up directing, acting, writing, audience, critics and ‘best film’ awards at international festivals before being exhibited in movie theaters in Europe and on Netflix. Micah also produces through Berlin directors' cooperative Makrorama. Productions include Johan Carlsen’s fiction feature Death on the Streets as producer/co-author, which premiered in Rotterdam in 2021, and Haris Raftogiannis’ experimental documentary feature Aeralandi, which premiered at Thessaloniki in 2022. Wang Chong is recognized around the world as one of Beijing’s most significant theatre directors, celebrated for his visionary experiments with classic and contemporary plays. Wang creates Made in China 2.0 with Australian co-director Emma Valente to shine the light on his own experiences as an artist. In this insightful and unexpected solo, Wang takes us deep inside the mechanism of his creative risk-taking to share a personal manifesto for making trailblazing art back home and abroad. Since its premiere at Boston in 2023, it has been presented on five continents.Limited seating. Registration through Eventbrite is strongly encouraged.Presented by the Department of Theater.
