This spring, FMST’s Horror Media class is developing card games a la Arkham Horror and Magic: the Gathering. These games will feature a bestiary of monsters and assorted horrors invented by our students in order to theorize our contemporary moment. Come support your fellow Colgate students as they build a game that is as fun as it is deliciously frightful. ++ During and after the playtest, we will also have a playthrough of The Thaumaturge, an award-winning 2024 videogame set in 19th-century Poland in the lead-up to the Russian Revolution. In this game, you play Wiktor Szulski, a magician who collects people’s demons — literal monsters that latch onto their character flaws — and uses them to fight increasingly powerful terrors that haunt his dying empire. The Thaumaturge features European folklore, turn-based combat, Polish history, and a wild reimagining of Grigori Rasputin. All attendees are invited to play, comment, or sit back and watch as the spirit moves them. Snacks will be provided.*Attendees are free to come and go throughout the night, though we do ask that you do so non-disruptively. The event will run until folks get tired or until the building closes, whichever comes first.Co-sponsored by Art, Computer Science, Russian and Eurasian Studies - Apr 178:00 PMDonnie's TriviaToday's Events | Donovan's Pub
