The Shaw Wellness Institute is committed to helping students achieve a balanced life at Colgate. A focus on wellness, in turn, will lead to your overall success at Colgate. The goal of this session is to help you identify wellness strategies that will contribute to your success both in and out of the classroom. With holistic wellbeing in mind, Finding Your Balance aims to help you make safe and responsible decisions. This includes important information about the use and misuse of alcohol or other substances. While contextualizing and understanding the reasons for potential substance use, presenters will share information with you so you can make informed decisions about managing stress and finding balance.

As a continuation to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Module you took prior to arrival to Colgate, dive deeper into connections with your Link groups through dialogue. Dialogue is one way to build empathy, and begins with active listening and affirming the value of someone’s contributions to the dialogue. These are prerequisites to every strong relationship you’ll have at Colgate. Affirmation is not an indication of agreement with someone; however, it is an opportunity to connect with another person with authenticity. In Dialogue… allows new students to reflect on their own identities and experiences, and build relationships across differences, integrating themes from this year's Community Read.

New to Moodle or need a refresher? This workshop introduces you to Colgate's learning management system, focusing on how Moodle can enhance teaching and learning. We'll cover basic functionalities to help you set up your courses, plus explore key features for creating, collecting, and assessing assignments and forums. This will take place as a Zoom meeting. Participants will receive the link to join the meeting via their confirmation email.
