Join pop music scholar Amy Coddington, assistant professor of music at Amherst College, for a discussion of her recent book, How Hip Hop Became Hit Pop: Radio, Rap, and Race, which explores how the radio industry, and music industry structures more broadly, facilitated hip hop's introduction into the musical mainstream in the 1980s and early 1990s.
