Women’s Tennis Dominates Dolphins
Box Score SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Women's tennis won their first duel of the Spring on Friday afternoon, handling Le Moyne, 6-1, at the Drumlins Country Club. The win marks the program's 10th straight triumph against the Dolphins, who have never beaten the Raiders in the all-time series that dates back to 2010.
"It was nice to see the ladies get back on the winning track against a solid Le Moyne squad tonight," Head Coach Bobby Pennington said. "We set the tone early in doubles and continued the momentum winning the top five singles. Credit to Le Moyne as they pushed us in certain spots to three sets."
The Raiders won early and often in their first home duel of the Spring, starting with a pair of victories from Amelia Galin/Carina Cristobal (6-2) and Eliza Podlas/Avery Isaac (6-3) to clinch the doubles point for the home side.
The success carried over to singles action, where Cristobal commanded court three with a decisive 6-1, 6-4 triumph before Galin pushed the Raiders' advantage to three with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Montero then clinched the duel for Colgate when she took first singles with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 decision.
Addie Eklund notched her first singles win of the Spring on court four (6-2, 6-0) while Podlas tacked on one extra point for the Raiders with a 7-5, 3-6, 11-9 victory in fifth singles.
