More Records Fall on Day 2 of Patriot Championship
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Colgate swimming and diving teams continued a full day of competition with the second session of the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championship on Thursday at Lejeune Hall on the campus of Navy.
The women's team holds seventh place with 217 points and the men stand in ninth with 135.
WOMEN
The finals began with the 500 free finals, where MG King secured an 11th-place finish, good enough for third in the B Final. They clocked in at 4:56.21, a full second faster than their preliminary mark.
Audrey Collins won the B Final for the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:02.48, good for ninth overall and just ahead of teammate Brooke Garretson's 10th-place time of 2:02.86.
Lucy Art and Jordan Hurt both competed in the A Final for the 50-yard freestyle, placing fifth and seventh, respectively, with times of 23.09 and 23.52.
MEN
Jack Schurtz-Ford contributed to a pair of program records on the day. He finished 20th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.73, the fourth-best mark in the C final and topping the program's first-year marks.
In the 400-yard medley relay, Colgate's squad of JD Suarez, Ryan Jee, Scott Pejic, and Schurtz-Ford clocked in a program-record time of 3:19.02, good for seventh place overall.
Owen McCabe captured an 18th-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 218.60. Tyler Bosma secured a 22nd-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle final, turning in a time of 4:36.28, two seconds faster than his preliminary time.
