Herzig, Li Named Golf All-America Scholars
NORMAN, Okla. – Senior Robbie Herzig and rising junior Leo Li represented Colgate Golf as All-America Scholars, announced Tuesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Herzig, now a three-time All-America Scholar, the most selections in program history, on the heels of Academic All-Patriot League and First Team All-League season. The New York native who now holds a degree in Economics and Chinese, also was named Colgate Athletics' Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Li, a Bradenton, Fla., native majoring in Philosophy, became a recipient for the first time in his Colgate career. Li and Herzig tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard at this year's Patriot League championship, earning All-League First Team honors.
To be eligible as an All-America Scholar, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior who participated in at least 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Competing in 11 tournaments and 25 rounds this season, Herzig led the team with a 72.0 scoring average and 11 rounds of scoring par or better. He earned four top-five finishes, including co-medaling at the Savannah Intercollegiate after firing back-to-back rounds of 68. Herzig shot a program-record 67 twice, highlighted by his first round of the season at Seven Oaks during the Alex Lagowitz Memorial.
Li matched Herzig with Colgate's best round of the Patriot League championship, firing a 1-under 69 to climb into the top five. His fourth-place finish in the championship marked his best performance of the season, shooting even par through the three-day tournament. His other tournament highlights included an 11th-place finish at the Battle at Rum Pointe (E) and 17th-place finish at the Carpetbagger Classic.
