Moffatt Named to NABC Academic Honors Court
HAMILTON – Ryan Moffatt '23 was named to the Academic Honors Court and the Colgate University men's basketball program picked up a Team Academic Excellence Award when the National Association of Basketball Coaches released its 2023-24 honors on Monday afternoon. Moffatt, a three-time selection for the Academic Honors Court, double-majored in Economics and Educational Studies during his time in Hamilton. The Lancaster, Pa., native leaves Colgate as a four-time Patriot League champion and two-time All-Patriot League honoree averaging 8.5 points and 3.9 rebounds.
The latest member of the 1,000-point club, Moffatt appeared in 135 games with 116 starting assignments. He compiled 1,146 career points, 524 rebounds, 208 assists, and 140 steals. He concludes his Colgate career tied for ninth in the Patriot League record book for career three-point percentage (41.5).
In 2023-24, Moffatt, a two-year captain, averaged 10.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game to garner All-Patriot League Second Team honors. He led the team in scoring six times with 20 double-figure scoring performances, including his season-high 23 points with six made treys against Boston University (1/20).
This is the third consecutive year for the Colgate men's basketball program to land a Team Academic Excellence Award. The Raiders clinched their fourth straight Patriot League title on the heels of another magical season, finishing 25-10 overall and 16-2 in league play.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2023-24 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
"The NABC is proud to celebrate these accomplished student-athletes, along with the coaches and staff who champion success in the classroom," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is a core value of the NABC, and the teams and athletes who earned these awards are proof that academic achievement remains a priority across every level of our sport."
