Cross Country Places at ECAC/IC4A Championships
BRONX, N.Y. – Colgate cross country competed at the ECAC/IC4A Championships on Friday morning, with the men's team improving on last year's 27th-place finish by three spots and an average of 90 seconds on the same course. The women, while placing the same, improved upon their finish last year by nearly 40 seconds on average.
"One thing we are focused on is being better than we were last year." Head Coach Chelsea France said. "We're satisfied with this result but not complacent and that's exactly what I love to see from this team leading into championship season."
Junior Owen Holland raced his fastest career time at the event, finishing first for the Raiders with a 25:27.8. Sophomore Owen McMorrow clocked in just behind Holland, crossing the line with a 25:46.6 time in the 8k race. Five other Raiders earned spots within the top 200 runners, all of whom are first-years.
On the women's side, first-year Audrey Luell nearly cracked the top 100 with a 22:44.1 time and a 107th-place finish. Friday's race marked her fourth consecutive meet as the fastest Raider runner this fall.
Fellow first-year Grace Myers also led the pack for Colgate, finishing second on the team with a time of 23:26.9. Senior Carollin Mellin chipped in a career-best time at the ECAC/IC4A Championships, running a 23:50.3.
