HAMILTON -- The sixth-ranked women's tennis team had their season ended by No. 3 Army on Friday afternoon, falling to the Black Knights, 4-0, in the Patriot League Quarterfinals. The loss caps an 11-10 record on the year, the sixth-straight winning season for the Raiders. 
 

"That was a tough ending to a really strong winning season for the ladies," Head Coach Bobby Pennington said. "Army was who we thought they were: a very strong, talented team who has won a lot of championships. That is the closest we ever played Army women. The league has gotten so much better, and you have three elite teams at the top and a handful of others fighting for the four-seed. The future is so bright for the ladies with no seniors and two elite freshmen coming in next year. We look to have our sixth-straight winning season next year and take it a step further in the tournament."

The first point of the duel fell to Army after Colgate fell on doubles courts one and three. The Black Knights extended their lead with wins in singles two and three, eventually clinching the victory with a triumph in the fifth slot. 

Colgate did not go down without a fight, however, as Sophia Montero held a 6-3, 7-5, 1-0 lead on court one while Sasha Herman was amid a breaker set on six when their matches were abandoned. 

Overall, the Raiders end the season with a 3-2 conference record and return the entire lineup next season where they will look to clinch their seventh-straight winning season under Pennington.
