Football Announces 2024 Schedule
HAMILTON – The 10-time Patriot League Champion Colgate football team released its 2024 schedule on Wednesday, including seven away games and five home tests at Crown Field at Andy Kerr Stadium.
The year begins on the road with a non-conference tilt against Maine on Friday, Aug. 30, where the Raiders most recently triumphed against the Black Bears, 21-15, in 2022.
Colgate welcomes Villanova to Hamilton on Sept. 7 for its home opener before a road clash with FBS foe Akron on Sept. 14.
The Raiders and the Zips have only met once all-time, a 44-0 Raider win back in 1940, where Bill Geyer '42 logged the seventh-longest kick return for a touchdown in program history.
The Raiders then host the Big Red of Cornell on Sept. 21 where the squads will continue the longest-standing rivalry in Colgate football history. The first time the two teams met was in 1896, and the Raiders narrowly trail in the all-time series, 50-51-3.
Colgate remains in the Ivy League on Sept. 28 with a visit to Penn, and begins Patriot League play with a home game versus Holy Cross on Oct. 5.
After an Oct. 12 bye week, Georgetown comes to town on Oct. 19. Non-conference action concludes with a visit to Merrimack on Oct. 26 where the two programs will meet for the first time.
Colgate is on the road in three out of its last four league matchups, starting with a trip to Fordham on Nov. 2.
The Raiders meet the Leopards of Lafayette on Nov. 9 in the home finale, finishing the regular season on the road against Lehigh (Nov. 16) and Bucknell (Nov. 23).
Last season, Fred '50 and Marilyn Dunlap Head Football Coach Stan Dakosty finished his third season at the helm with a career-best 6-5 record, including a stellar 4-2 mark in conference.
