Serdachny Claims Gold at Women’s Worlds
UTICA, N.Y.– Colgate's newest alumna Danielle Serdachny picked up right where she left off in the 2023-24 collegiate hockey season, scoring the game-winning goal for Canada at the IIHF Women's World Championship in Utica, N.Y. on Sunday night.
"I'm going to have to watch it back because it's kind of a blur," Serdachny said. "Ambrose took a shot and I was just trying to get in front of the goalie's eyes. I think it hit me in the thigh and the rebound fell to me so I just tapped it in. It was a pretty special one."
It is Serdachny's second career overtime, game-winning goal against the United States having potted the OT winner on December 19, 2022 in a 3-2 Rivalry Series win for Canada.
Colgate's all-time leading scorer tallied four total points across Canada's seven-game gold medal run at the 2024 IIHF Women's Worlds and has now made 29 appearances donning the Maple Leaf on the international stage.
Serdachny also suited up in the 2023 Rivalry Series for Team Canada and collected a silver medal in last year's IIHF Women's Worlds in Brampton, Ontario. The 22-year-old has accumulated 12 points on seven goals and five assists so far in her international career.
The Raider legend recently declared for the PWHL Draft to be held later this summer to see where she will continue her professional hockey career.
