Raiders Face Providence in WNIT
HAMILTON – With the Raiders victory over UAlbany, Colgate secured its first postseason victory in Division I history and now look to Providence College in the second round of the WNIT.
The Raiders used a dominant first half to soar past the University at Albany, 64-50 on Thursday night at Cotterell Court to advance to the second round of the WNIT. Colgate's offense was led by three double-digit scorers, Taylor Golembiewski (17), Sophia Diehl (16), and Tiasia McMillan (13). The Raiders were able to have their way with the best defense in the nation shooting 51 percent (25-for-49) from the floor and 60 percent (6-for-10) from three. The Colgate defense continued its dominance, holding the Great Danes to just 36.4 percent (20-for-55) from the floor and 18.8 percent (3-for-16) from three.
Colgate will now head to Rhode Island to take on Providence. The two teams have matched up once before in the 2016 season opener. Providence was able to overcome Colgate in two overtimes, 92-85.
Providence earned a first round bye into the WNIT second round after a 13-20 season, falling to UConn in the Big East Tournament. Olivia Olsen leads the team in points (13.7), rebounds (8.5), and blocks (1.7).
Colgate looks to advance to the Super 16 of the WNIT where they would take on the winner of the game between Vermont and Niagara.

"We are excited that we get another opportunity to play in the postseason. This is the best time of year and I am grateful that my players get this opportunity. We've had some great practices this postseason with our focus being that we want to feel good about how we show up to play. Our goal is to play Colgate Basketball on both ends of the floor. I am optimistic that we will be us again on Monday night."
