HAMILTONAfter winning their first game over a Big East opponent and becoming the first Patriot League team to advance past the second round of the WNIT, the Raiders now look ahead to Burlington, Vermont where they will take on Vermont on Friday, Mar. 29. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Patrick Gymnasium

Taylor Golembiewski and Alexa Brodie combined for 30 points as Colgate advanced to the Super Sixteen of the WNIT after a 54-41 win over Providence. The pair continue to climb up the all-time point leaders in Colgate women's basketball history with Brodie sitting at 19th and Golembiewski two points behind in 20th.

The Vermont Catamounts earned a first round bye and defeated Niagara 69-63 in the second round of the WNIT. Vermont earned a bye after losing in the America East Championship to Maine 64-48. Vermont defeated UAlbany three times this season, most recently in the American East semifinal 50-46.

The game will feature two of the tougher defensive units in women's basketball. Colgate sits first in the nation in 3-point percentage defense (24.2) and 13th in over scoring defense allowing 55.4 points per game. Vermont currently ranks second in the nation in scoring defense allowing just 52.5 points per game.

Historically, Vermont leads the all-time series 13-4 including the last nine straight. The two teams haven't met in over 12 years, as the last matchup between the Raiders and Catamounts took place in Vermont on Nov. 18, 2011 and saw Vermont win 61-49.

The Raiders are looking to advance to the Great Eight of the WNIT and take on the winner of the game between Purdue and Duquesne. Date and location is to be determined.
