Holland and Shepard Land Academic Honors
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Colgate cross country's Owen Holland and Kara Shepard were voted to the Patriot League All-Academic Teams, the conference announced on Friday. Both Raiders competed in every race this year for Colgate and set multiple new PRs in the process.
Shepard finds herself on the conference's All-Academic team for the first time after being named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll the past two seasons. The anthropology major boasts the highest GPA on the team, but also excels out of the classroom after setting a new PR at the ECAC/IC4A Championships running a 23:57.2 6k.
Holland also spent the past two years on the Patrior League's Academic Honor Roll and makes his first appearance on the All-Academic team this season. He was the fastest Raider in four out of Colgate's five meets, setting an 8k PR twice this season at the Yellowjacket Invitational and then at the ECAC/IC4A Championships. The mathematical economics major also placed 30th at the Patriot League Championships, helping the men's program to their best finish at the league race in over 10 years.
Both Shepard and Holland are in action this Friday at the NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships in the Bronx, N.Y. at Van Cortlandt Park.
