HAMILTON  — Colgate Football hosted its annual end-of-year banquet on Saturday, Feb. 10, where student-athletes, coaches, and support staff celebrated 26 seniors and a successful 2023 season.

The awards began rolling out with Mark Paske '94, the Co-President of the Colgate Football Maroon Council who was presented with the Maroon Council Loyalty Award to kick off the festivities in President's Hall.

Treyvhon Saunders was next up, presented with the 2023 Andy Kerr Trophy Offensive MVP. The second-year wideout ended the season second in the Patriot League with 68 receptions and 6.2 catches per game. The First-Team All-League selection also finished with the sixth-most receptions in a season and the 10th most receiving yards ever by a Raider wide receiver.

Owen Goss was the recipient of the Hal W. Lahar Award given to the most valuable defensive player. A First-Team All-Patriot League honoree, Goss led the Colgate secondary in tackles and logged the seventh-most stops by a defensive back in the league. Goss was also tied for fourth in the Patriot League in interceptions after nabbing two in Colgate's win at Georgetown, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Special teams standout Max Hurleman was selected as the winner of the Mark Rakowski '83 Special Teams Award after being voted onto the Patriot League's First-Team in 2023. Playing on nearly every special teams unit, Hurleman also ranked second in the conference in punt return yards averaging 6.4 yards per return.

The Tom Dodge Unsung Hero Award was presented conjointly to Jake Ryan and Austin McClendon, a pair of seniors who acted as the heart and soul of the Colgate Football program for the past four years.

Another senior, William Parker, accepted the Dick Biddle Coaches Award after displaying toughness and fearlessness on the field during his Colgate Football tenure.

Griffin Gentner and Max Walters won the Gordan Watson '62 Scout Team Awards for defense and offense, respectively, and Drew Frankel rounded out the night by receiving the Debbie Rhyde Raider Award. Every year, the award is given to the Raider who best represents the core values of Colgate football: community, family, selflessness, and commitment to the program, both on and off the field.
