Sawyer and Kozlowski Pick Up Weekly Honors
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Linebacker Cole Kozlowski and returner Jariyah Sawyer were voted Patriot League Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for their roles in Colgate's 38-28 victory against Georgetown on Saturday. It is the second time this season Kozlowski has nabbed a weekly award and the first-ever honor for Sawyer.
Kozlowski, who leads the Patriot League in total tackles with 78 this season, was tied for a game-high 13 stops with a pass break up in last weekend's win. It marks the fifth time this season the junior linebacker has led a game in total tackles, and it stands as his fifth double-digit tackle game in seven outings.
Sawyer returned three kickoffs for 104 yards against the Hoyas, a new personal best for the junior. He set the Raider offense up on their own 40 yard line or better with two returns of 35+ yards, and he also matched his career-high with three receptions on offense for 17 yards.
The Raiders won two out of three weekly awards from the Patriot League for the first time since Nov. 6, 2023, when Jake Stearney collected a Rookie of the Week bid and Christian Sweeney was voted Defensive Player of the Week.
Sawyer, Kozlowski and the rest of the Raiders return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, for a road game against Merrimack.
