Hollomon Leads Colgate Golf at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Kevin Hollomon closed Saturday's action with back-to-back birdies and is tied for 23rd place after two rounds of the Rutherford Intercollegiate at Penn State's Blue Course.
Seventy-eight golfers from 14 teams are competing in this weekend's 47th annual Rutherford Intercollegiate at Penn State's Par 71, 7,171-yard Blue Course. Colgate as a team holds 13th place after turning in a two-day score of 613 (+45).
COACH KIRCHER'S COMMENTS "We have had some very challenging circumstances this spring that are hard to prepare for. Today there was a very constant wind, which is always a challenge. We did a good job staying positive and moving forward, and had some nice stretches of golf. Justin Fedele had 13 pars in the first round, which is very steady in conditions like that. I was happy to see Kevin and Robbie settle in and both post 74 in the afternoon. We have another opportunity tomorrow and I think the guys are looking forward to it."
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hollomon posted steady rounds of 75 and 74 to sit seven-over-par (149) and tied for 23rd place. He's nine strokes off the lead and five strokes outside of the top 10. Two of his three birdies in the second round came back-to-back on holes 8 and 9 to close his afternoon.
Robbie Herzig also turned in a second-round 74, improving by four strokes after posting a first-round 78. He sits in a tie for 41st place with a 152 scorecard (+10).
Justin Fedele led the team with 24 pars, good for the third most in the field. He is tied for 48th and one stroke behind Herzig after carding an 11-over-par 153 two-round score.
