McCabe in Top 10 After Two Rounds in Missouri
ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Dugan McCabe's second-round 68 vaulted him into the top 10 after two rounds of the Lindenwood Invitational on Monday at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club.
McCabe's three-under-par 68 placed him in a tie for 9th at even par (142) after carding a three-over-par 74 in the first round. He turned in six birdies including three of the last five holes to finish the evening five shots off the lead heading into the final round.
Eighty-five golfers from 13 different teams are taking the par-71 course this week.
"It was good to knock some rust off," said head coach JP Kircher. "We really haven't been able to get outside a ton, but it was good to start out competing. Really helps us learn what we need to put more emphasis of work on. Really good first round from Robbie with a 68, and then Dugan went and did the same in the afternoon. Always good to get in the red. We showed a lot of good patience on a tough 36-hole day and are excited to get back out there in the morning!"
McCabe's 68 was tied for the second lowest score of the day. Teammate Robbie Herzig turned in a 68 in the first round and closed the day with a second-round 77 to place in a tie for 17th. Herzig was tied for first after his hot start in the opening round.
Colgate is in seventh place overall at 22-over-par. The Raiders stand in the middle of the pack of 13 teams competing in the early-spring event with a 292-298=590. Lindenwood is leading with an eight-under 560 followed by Indian Hills at four-over-par 572.
Kevin Hollomon (+10) and Leo Li (+11) are in 52nd and 54th place, respectively, while Justin Fedele rounded out Colgate's scoring contingent in 69th place (+15).
