Herzig Paces Raiders in Lake Placid
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Robbie Herzig fired a final-round 67 to finish sixth and lead Colgate to a fifth-place finish in the Autumn Invitational at Lake Placid Club.
Herzig climbed from 18th to 6th, finishing with a 73-73-67=213 (E) three-day card to lead the Raiders on the individual leaderboard. Justin Fedele finished two strokes back in 8th after turning in a final-round 73 and finishing with a 71-71-73=215 (+2) final card.
"Lake Placid was a great trip," said head coach JP Kircher. "We got to have the entire team play - getting tournament reps is super important. We seem to really be learning and improving, showing some more consistency. I'm so pumped to see Robbie tie his career low of 67 in the final round. Should launch us into a great week at Bucknell to wrap up the fall!"
Wyatt Petersen made a jump on the final day, improving his score by eight strokes in the final round to post a 78-81-73=232 (+19). Dugan McCabe withdrew from the final round with an injury and Kevin Hollomon's third-round 73 was nullified by a disqualification.
Michael Hanratty's final round was his best score of the weekend, finishing with a 3-over-par 74. He led Colgate's individual group in a tie for 43rd place on the leaderboard.
Colgate placed fifth as a team with an 874 composite score, one stroke behind Sacred Heart for fourth and two shots off from a top-three finish. Columbia won the tournament with an 849 three-day composite.
