Bergsland and Schneider Earn ECAC Postseason Honors

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Colgate junior Tommy Bergsland was named to the ECAC Hockey Second Team All-League, and first-year Jake Schneider earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team, announced by the conference on a rolling basis this week.

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Colgate junior Tommy Bergsland was named to the ECAC Hockey Second Team All-League, and first-year Jake Schneider earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team, announced by the conference on a rolling basis this week.
 
Bergsland earns postseason recognition for the first time after logging a career-best 24 points behind four goals and a career-high 20 assists. He sits tied for seventh in the league in assists, falling tied for third among blueliners. Additionally, his 24 points sit tied for second-most among defensemen.
 
This season, Bergsland has tallied four multi-assist games, including a career-best three helpers in the Raiders' victory at Yale on Nov. 4. He also logged two assists in ECAC wins over Princeton (Jan. 20), and Brown (Feb. 17). Seventeen of Bergsland's assists came during league play, helping the Raiders claim the No. 3 seed.
 
The Wayzata, Minn., native has also blocked 41 shots, falling second-most on the team. He was named ECAC Hockey Defender of the Month for October after recording four points in the first six games of the season.
 
Schneider had a standout first season for Colgate, registering 18 points with nine goals and nine assists, with 17 of those points coming during conference play. He ranks tied for fourth among ECAC rookies in goals. Additionally, Schneider is tied for second on the team in plus-minus at +11 and went a team-best +16 during ECAC Hockey action.
 
Schneider was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Dec. 4 after notching a three-point performance (1G, 2A) in a 4-2 win over rival Cornell. He also tallied two points with a goal and an assist in the victory over Princeton on Jan 20.
 
A native of Plymouth, Minn., Schneider went on several hot streaks throughout the season, including a goal in three straight contests during November. He also logged four points in Colgate's final six games.
 
Following a first-round bye, the Raiders are back in action this weekend, hosting St. Lawrence in a best-of-three quarterfinal series. The first two games are Friday and Saturday, and Game 3 is Sunday if necessary. All start times are 7 p.m. at the Class of 1965 Arena.
