HAMILTON — The Raiders season came to an end with a 3-2 defeat to St. Lawrence in Game 2 of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals Saturday evening.

HAMILTON — The Raiders' season came to an end with a 3-2 defeat to St. Lawrence in Game 2 of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals Saturday evening.

Colgate outshot SLU for the second straight night, doing so by a total of 43-22, but could not get one past a hot goalie in Ben Kraws, who stopped 41 shots.

The Saints took the lead with 9:10 left in the third off a goal from Jan Olenginski. Earlier in the period, Ryan McGuire tied the game at 2-2 on a power play. Alex DiPaolo passed to Ross Mitton, who skated in and fired a shot that got saved, but McGuire cleaned up the rebound.

SLU scored two in the second to take a 2-1 lead. Cameron Buhl found the back of the net five and a half minutes in, knotting the score up. Felikss Gavars fired one home right off a faceoff to give his squad the lead.

The Raiders got on the board first when first-year Ryan Sullivan scored his sixth goal of the season just over five minutes in. Alex DiPaolo passed to Brett Chorske, who played it to Dom Foglia. The first-year scooped a shot toward the goal that Sullivan found and put into the back of the net.

The Raiders outshot SLU 17-2 in the opening 20 minutes, but a strong start from the Saints' netminder prevented them from putting another in. Colgate had two power play chances in the period but could not capitalize.

Carter Gylander made 19 saves in goal, including 10 in the final period.

The Raiders end their season with a 16-16-4 record while St. Lawrence improves to 13-18-6 and will take on Quinnipiac in the semifinals.
