HAMILTON — Pierson Brandon tallied four points with two goals and two assists to help lead Colgate past RPI 6-2 Friday evening at the Class of 1965 Arena.

The senior's four points tied his career high, and it was also his first two-goal game this season. Ethan Manderville logged his second two-point game with a pair of helpers. Additionally, Nick Anderson and Daniel Panetta recorded a goal and an assist.

Anderson opened the scoring six and a half minutes into the first. Brandon fired a shot that got picked up by Simon Labelle. The sophomore fed a pass to Anderson in the left faceoff circle, who slid a shot off an Engineer player's skate into the back of the net.

Rensselaer got one back with a power play goal from Austin Heidemann at the 12:16 mark of the first.

Colgate scored three times in the middle frame, two of which came from Brandon. The captain put his squad ahead 2-1 three minutes into the second. A clear attempt by Rensselaer tipped off the stick of Levi Glasman and fell to Brandon, who skated in before firing a low shot past the netminder.

Nearly seven minutes later, Alex DiPaolo netted a power play goal to push Colgate's advantage to two at 3-1. Anderson ripped a shot that got saved by the goalie and was loose out in front. Brett Chorske tried to collect it, but it hit his stick and fell to DiPaolo for an easy tap-in from just outside the crease.

Brandon notched his second of the contest with five minutes left in the second. Manderville picked up a loose puck along the boards near the left faceoff circle. He passed out to Panetta, who passed back to Brandon just inside the blueline. Brandon then skated right down the middle, past two defenders, and fired a shot into the left corner to make it 4-1.

The Engineers got one back to put the scoreboard at 4-2 with a shorthanded tally from Jacob Lee with 14 seconds remaining.

The Raiders kept pouring it on in the third, finding the back of the net twice in 55 seconds. After a delayed penalty, Ross Mitton fired in a one-timer from the left faceoff circle off of passes from Brandon and Ryan McGuire. Panetta followed at the 9:53 point of the period. Tommy Bergsland passed down low to Manderville, who played the puck across the crease to the sophomore for a tap-in.

Andrew Takacs started in goal for the Raiders, making 20 saves and picking up his second victory.
