STORRS, Conn. — UConn scored five unanswered goals to earn a 6-2 win over Colgate Saturday evening.

STORRS, Conn. — UConn scored five unanswered goals to earn a 6-2 win over Colgate Saturday evening.

"It was a second instructive game in determining where our pieces fit best. We will take a lot of lessons from this weekend that will carry us through the season," said head coach Mike Harder.

Another Raider scored a first career goal, this time being first-year Simone Dadiè. He found the back of the net with 4:10 left in the first. Niko Rexine picked up the puck in the corner before dishing a pass to Dadiè, who slipped a shot past the goaltender.

UConn then responded with three goals in three minutes during the second period. Tabor Heaslip started it off, putting one in at the 4:56 mark. Just over two minutes later, Jake Richard pushed Connecticut's lead to two. Jake Percival followed 53 seconds after, making it 3-1 Connecticut.

The Huskies kept pushing in the third, adding three more. Kaden Shahan netted a goal just over halfway through. Percival quickly added another, expanding UConn's lead to 5-1 21 seconds later.

Nic Belpedio stopped Connecticut's run, netting his first of the season. The senior ripped a one-timer off a pass from Tommy Bergsland.

UConn topped off the scoring with an empty net goal by Ryan Tattle with five and a half minutes remaining.

The Raiders had opportunities to get back in the game, including three power plays in the third but they could not score. Colgate also had one man-up chance in each of the first two periods.

Nick Haas got the start in goal, making 37 saves. The junior recorded double-digit stops in the first (13) and third (17) periods.
