Colgate begins its Whitelaw Cup title defense by hosting St. Lawrence in a best-of-three ECAC quarterfinal series at the Class of 1965 Arena this weekend.

The first two games are Friday and Saturday, and Game 3, if necessary, is Sunday. Puck drop is 7 p.m. for all three contests. The Raiders earned the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs, while the No. 7 seed Saints advanced after a 4-2 victory at home over No. 10 seed Yale last Saturday in the opening round.

It will be a rematch of the 2023 quarterfinal series at St. Lawrence that Colgate swept to advance to the championship weekend.

The Raiders ended the regular season by winning eight straight games at home. Colgate outscored its opponents 34-17 in that span, averaging 4.25 goals per contest.

Daniel Panetta is riding a four-game point streak into the playoffs, having tallied five goals and three assists. He sits tied with Ross Mitton for the team lead in points (29), falling tied for ninth-best in the league. Panetta's 13 goals rank tied for a team-best with Ryan McGuire.

Tommy Bergsland has notched 20 assists on the year. The 2024 ECAC Hockey Second Team All-League selection finished in the top three among league blueliners in points and assists. Fellow defenseman Nick Anderson has registered a point in three straight, including a pair of two-point performances. Pierson Brandon is the team leader in blocked shots (52), tied for sixth-most in the conference.

First-year Jake Schneider has recorded four points in the last six games and has gone +6. He recently got named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team after posting 18 points in the regular season (9G, 9A). Additionally, Brett Chorske and Simon Labelle finished the season at 26 points with seven goals and 19 assists.

Goaltender Carter Gylander has made 822 saves this season, tied for second most in ECACH. Gylander is now fourth all-time at Colgate in career saves (2708) and games played (104).

The Raiders will try to advance to the league's championship weekend for the third consecutive season. The semifinals are on Friday, March 22, and the championship will be on Saturday, March 23, at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y.
