Men's Lacrosse Drops 15-9 Decision to Villanova

Michael Minicus led the offensive efforts for the Raiders, tallying a goal and a season-high four assists for five points. Liam Connor recorded three points (2G, 1A), while Jack Turner also registered two goals.

Villanova took a 5-0 lead in the opening nine minutes of the first. Liam Connor notched Colgate's first of the contest at the 4:42 mark to stop the run.
 
The Raiders outscored the Wildcats 4-3 in the second quarter. Colgate notched back-to-back tallies to cut the deficit in half at 6-3. Turner logged his first 2:05 into the quarter, and Ryan Favaro followed 40 seconds later. Villanova fired in two straight of its own, but Colgate responded with sophomore Sam Erickson netting the first of his career. Turner then put one in with three seconds left, making it 8-5 at the half.
 
Villanova began the third on a 4-1 run. Colgate got a goal from Ben Trumble between two Wildcat scores with just under seven and a half minutes remaining. Following two more from the home team, Liam Connor notched his second of the game with 2:19 left to make the score 12-7.
 
A quick man-up goal from Minicus at the start of the fourth brought the lead back down to four at 12-8 with just under 13 minutes to go. Colgate only scored once more, a goal from Hunter Drouin with 4:54 remaining, putting the scoreboard at 14-9.
 
Minicus, Turner, and Max Yates all logged two caused turnovers for the Raiders. Kyle Rummel scooped up a team-best seven ground balls. Matt LaCombe stopped 11 shots in goal.

The Raiders are home for the first time next Saturday, hosting Loyola in its Patriot League opener at 12 p.m. inside Andy Kerr Stadium.
