HAMILTON — Colgate Men's Rowing kicks off the IRA National Championship Regatta Friday at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.

The Raiders' will be racing their varsity four boat. The action starts at 11:40 a.m. on Friday with the time trials, and the semifinals follow later in the afternoon. The finals will be held on Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

"The varsity four event is always competitive and deep, with the large programs putting out fast boats and some smaller programs sending very competitive crews. We have had a very good training camp and are looking forward to this race," said assistant coach Eric Summers.

The varsity four boat competed twice this spring. At the SIRA Championship Regatta, the Raiders finished seventh overall after winning the second-level final with a time of 6:59.671. The crew took third in the semifinals and fifth in the time trials.

Colgate also raced in a dual against Temple, coming in second after completing the course in 7:27.60.

The Raiders will look to build off last year's performance at the IRAs when they placed 18th overall. Colgate qualified for the third-level final, finishing sixth at 7:27.215. This marks the fifth straight season in which the Raiders have had a boat compete at the national championship.
