Three Raiders Earn Patriot League Postseason Honors
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Patriot League released its men's soccer postseason honors Thursday, highlighted by Blake Pipkin earning Rookie of the Year.
The first-year was also named Second Team All-Patriot League, while Cason Stafford and Mason Pahule garnered Third Team accolades.
Pipkin had a standout rookie season, leading the team in goals (six) and points (14). He finished first among Patriot League first-years in goals and points and ranked tied for second overall in both categories. Pipkin registered five goals and 11 points during Patriot League play, leading the conference.
The forward recorded a season-high three points with his first career goal and an assist during the Raiders' win over Lafayette Sept. 14.
He scored in two straight games against American Sept. 21 and at Navy Sept 28. Pipkin also recorded a goal in back-to-back games at Loyola Oct. 12 and against #20 Cornell Oct. 15. He found the back of the net in the Raiders' win over Army Nov. 5.
The Houston, Texas, native is the first Raider to earn Rookie of the Year since 2011.
Stafford logged a career-best seven points with two goals and three assists. He finished tied for the team lead in assists and was second in points. Additionally, Stafford ranked second in shots (18) and shots on goal (10).
The junior scored his first career goal in Colgate's victory over Stonehill Aug. 29. Stafford tallied a helper against Binghamton Sept. 6, and in the win over Lafayette Sept. 14.
He notched the game-winning goal in the Raiders' 1-0 defeat against Holy Cross Oct 5. Additionally, Stafford assisted the game-winner in the 88th minute at Lehigh Nov. 1.
Pahule was a crucial part of the Raiders' midfield, starting all 17 games and logging 1327 minutes, third most on the squad. He fired six shots, landing one on target.
The senior played the full 90 minutes in nine contests this season. Pahule logged a complete game against Holy Cross, helping the Raiders record a clean sheet.
He saw 90 minutes of action in draws against league foes American and Navy. Pahule also played the entire game against Lehigh, helping his squad earn a crucial three points.
Colgate hosts Lehigh in the Patriot League quarterfinals Saturday at 6 p.m.
