BOSTON – Student-athletes from the Colgate men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the two-day Boston University Winter Open on Friday evening inside the FitRec Competition Pool.
Olivia Schlegel captured Colgate's top finish on the day, placing second in the 200-yard IM. The first-year touched the wall in 2:08.37, less than a second off the first-place swimmer.
Emma Senglaub, Adrienne Hagins, Mae Causey, and Danielle McNerney paced Colgate's 400-yard freestyle relay to a third-place finish with a time of 3:38.67.
McNerney solidified a fourth-place time of 5:09.48 in the 500-yard freestyle, which featured 18 swimmers. E. Senglaub and Katie Senglaub finished sixth and eighth, respectively, while Nicole Ben-David and Alexis Burton rounded out the top 10 in ninth and 10th.
On the men's side, Colgate's quartet of Luke Morneault, Emmet Santry, Kerry Cassidy, and Alex Rose earned a fourth-place time of 3:15.60 in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Rose also competed in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 4:44.71 for a sixth-place finish.
