Colgate Edged by Lehigh
Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Men's tennis took an early 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point, but they could not fend off the surging Mountain Hawks who stormed back to win the duel, 4-1.
"I'm proud of our effort, play, and fight overall today, and I felt that despite adversity, our men handled themselves with class," head coach Bobby Pennington said. "Had we played like this yesterday, obviously the result and final score against Lafayette would have been much different. Our guys have been through a lot this season, but we still hope to finish strong and prepare for Loyola as the biggest match of the season."
The Raiders struck first on Sunday afternoon after an exhilarating doubles decision leaned Colgate's way. Jerome Falcon/Parker McGowan moved to 6-1 as a duo on the season with a 6-2 win on court three, and Benito Vlassis/Josh Israel won a tiebreaker set in the first slot which allowed Colgate to claim the first point of the duel.
It was all Lehigh from there, though, as the Mountain Hawks swept singles one through three, clinching the duel with a victory on court six that dropped Colgate to 1-4 in Patriot League action.
