HAMILTON - After a historic 2023-24 season, Colgate is just over a month away from kicking off its 2024-25 campaign against UMass Lowell on Nov. 4 at Cotterell Court. Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan and the Raiders have selected seniors Taylor Golembiewski and Sophia Diehl as their captains for the upcoming year.

Coach G added, "I am both ecstatic and proud of the individual and collective growth that Sophia and Taylor have made as leaders in the last few years. It's been a pleasure coaching and watching them grow in all aspects of the game with leadership being at the forefront."

"Leading is not easy. Being a captain is even harder. These two have shown that they are prepared through both their words and actions. Servant leadership is something we talk about often in our program. Soph and TG have committed to this wholeheartedly for their peers. I'm looking forward to watching them flourish in this role and seeing the impact they make, not just on our team this season but for our program for years to come."

Golembiewski comes off a Second Team All-Patriot league selection after netting a team-high 12.2 points per game and becoming the 23rd player in Colgate women's basketball history to eclipse the 1,000 point mark. The senior currently sits at 20th all-time in points in program history after hitting double figures in 21 games last season. Golembiewski averaged 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assist, and shot at an impressive 80.3% from the charity stripe.

Diehl was one of two players to start every game for the Raiders in the 2023-24 season. The senior averaged 7.6 points per game and led the team in boards averaging 6.5 per game. The Westminster, Md. native logged nine double-digit scoring games and four double figure rebounding games while also netting a double-double against Bucknell on Feb. 17.
