Women's Basketball Set for WNIT
HAMILTON – The tournament officials with the 2025 Postseason WNIT released its 48-team tournament bracket and Colgate will host Coppin State at Cotterell Court on Saturday, Mar. 22 at 6 p.m.
The Raiders will compete in the WNIT for the second consecutive season after making it to the Super 16 last year. Colgate will host the opening round of the tournament 366 days after defeating UAlbany in the first round of the 2024 WNIT.
Colgate and Coppin State will match up for the first time ever after both teams earned an at-large bid to the tournament. Coppin State finished 18-14 with an 8-6 record in the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). The Eagles fell to Norfolk State in the conference semifinals before earning a spot into the WNIT. The Raiders are 3-5 all time against the MEAC, most recently falling 51-58 to Norfolk State last season in Florida.
Head coach Ganiyat Adeduntan has helped lead the Raiders to a 23-9 record, their second straight 20+ win season and most in program history. Colgate's balanced attack has been key this season with three players in the top 15 of Patriot league scorers. The maroon and white finished as the second best scoring offense in the Patriot League (68.7 PPG) and fourth-best scoring defense (57.8 PPG allowed).
Senior Taylor Golembiewski was selected to the All-Patriot League First Team after leading the Raiders in scoring with 14.1 points per game. Golembiewski currently sits third all-time in Colgate's Division I scoring history at 1,500 points. The guard ranks fourth in the conference in shooting percentage at 45.9 percent heading into the WNIT.
Senior Morgan McMahon and junior Anne Bair also earned postseason honors with a spot on the All-Patriot League Third Team. McMahon has been a steady presence off the bench all season before starting the last six games of the season averaging 18.8 points per game down the stretch. Bair, a transfer from Manhattan College, leads the Patriot League in free throw percentage at 88.5 percent and is the only Raider with over 100 assists this season (114).
