Home Course Advantage Helps Raiders in League Championship
HAMILTON - A bit of rain on a warm Saturday morning at the Harry H. Lang XC Course was no problem for the Colgate Cross Country program as both the men and the women ran well for what will be the last meet of the year for many involved. The men came in seventh out of 10 competing schools, the highest finish for the program since a sixth-place spot in the 2012 league race, while the women finished eighth and notched their highest Patriot League point total since 2020.
The women started first with their 6k race, in which first-year Audrey Luell would cross the finish line first for the Raiders for the fifth time this fall with a time of 23:38.3. She was followed shortly after by fellow first year Grace Myers who ran a time of 23:47.3. These times were good enough to secure 39th and 43rd, respectively, out of 108 runners. Less than a minute later, senior Carollin Mellin finished 64th overall with a time of 24:38.1.
The men's starting gun sounded an hour later at 11:30 a.m. Of the 114 runners, junior Owen Holland would cross the finish line 30th overall as the first Raider at 26:06.4. The remaining four scorers would come in bunches, as Owen McMorrow and Andrew McGraw finished 47th and 48th, at only a second apart, with times of 26:35.3 and 26:36.4, respectively. After this, the next three Colgate runners finished the race within five seconds of each other to place 63rd, 64th, and 65th overall. Sophomore John Griffith finished with a time of 26:54.0, followed by first years Asim Hakim-Florian at 26:56.0 and Dakin Ebmeyer at 26:59.0.

"Knowing going into the race we were not in full force, our team raced with a heart for each other and came up big," Head Coach Chelsea France said. "I'm beyond proud of this team and the foundation they have laid for the future. This was a great send-off for our two seniors Carollin Mellin and Gavin Fowler."
