Cross Country Dazzles at the Yellowjacket Invitational
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Colgate cross country team had a historic day in Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday, with the men's team placing second out of 20 squads and the women finishing seventh out of 21.
"Today was a fantastic team performance for both our men and women," Head Cross Country Coach Chelsea France said. "With the majority of our squad experiencing a new race distance today, they were composed and intentional in their efforts to work together in continuing to elevate the standard of this program."
The second-place Raider finish, the best in program history at the Yellowjacket Invite, was headlined by stellar performances by Owen Holland and Owen McMorrow, who came in 13th and 23rd place, respectively. Holland's time of 25:49.6 sets a new career high for the junior in the 8k race, whereas McMorrow's 26:13.2 is the second-fastest time he's run in his two-year career at Colgate.
First-year Dakin Ebmeyer continued to build on his hot start for the Raiders, finishing in the top 25 with a time of 26:16.8.
On the women's side, first-year Audrey Luell was the fastest Colgate runner for the second meet in a row, running a 23:20.4 and finishing in 21st place. Fellow first-year Grace Myers made a splash in her second-career race, clocking a 23:31.2 and sporting a top-25 finish for the Raiders. Senior Carollin Mellin's 24:11.5 was good for the third-fastest time from a Raider runner.
