Field Hockey Announces Class of 2028

HAMILTON — Colgate field hockey coach April Cornell-DeAngelis announced the addition of six new team members who will join the program this upcoming fall.

HAMILTON — Colgate field hockey coach April Cornell-DeAngelis announced the addition of six new team members who will join the program this upcoming fall.
 
The Raiders' Class of 2028 hails from three states and two countries. They have excelled in both their high school and club careers as well in the classroom and their communities.
 
 "I am really excited to welcome this exceptional class. They are fiercely competitive and will fit into our team culture right away. All six individuals bring athleticism, skill, and strong leadership that will help us in our pursuit of championships," said Cornell-DeAngelis.
 
"They are incredible students who will contribute on the field and in the classroom and are the next generation of wonderful teammates and families. Go 'Gate!"
 
The players are listed below in alphabetical order.
 
Issy Collin
Defender
Bristol, England
Collegiate School Bristol/Bath Buccaneers Hockey Club
 

Before Colgate
Collin graduated from Collegiate School Bristol and also played for Bath Buccaneers Hockey Club, helping the team finish as runners-up at the U18 National Plate in 2023. She earned Junior Sportswoman of the Year in 2020 and Senior Sportswoman of the Year in 2023. Collin was named Player of the Season in 2022 and served as team captain during the 2023-24 season. She earned the Academic and Sport Scholarship for sixth form. Collin also participated in the England Hockey Player Pathway, playing in the U15 Futures Cup (2021) and the U17 Challenge Cup (2022).

Taylor Guibord

Bishop Guertin High School/Seacoast United

 
Before Colgate
A 2024 graduate of Bishop Guertin High School, Guibord was a four-year varsity member, finishing her career with 52 goals and 36 assists. She helped her team reach the conference semifinals in 2023 after tallying 18 goals and 12 assists. Guibord was a four-time First Team Division 1 All-State and Nashua Telegraph All-State List selection (2020-23). She was also named to the Top 50 USA Today Finalist List in 2023. She was a two-time team MVP (2021, 2023), earned the program's Offense Player Award in 2022, and served as team captain during her junior and senior seasons. Guibord played club for Seacoast United and was a two-time team MVP (2020, 2021) while helping the squad reach the Regional Cup Tournament twice (2021, 2022).  She was also named team captain (2021-22). Academically, Guibord earned second honors for three years, honorable mention for one, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Lauren Loh

Deerfield Academy/Rob Short Academy

 
Before Colgate
Loh graduated from Deerfield Academy in 2024 and played two years on the varsity field hockey team. She also attended Crofton House School from 2019-2021 and was a member of the varsity squad. Loh helped Deerfield reach the NEPSAC Class A Quarterfinals in 2023 and was a member of the Crofton House team that won the Independent Schools Athletic Association Championship in 2021. She was named captain for the following season before departing. Loh played club for Rob Short Academy and helped her team win gold at the India Club Junior Tournament in 2019. She also earned gold with the Vancouver Hawks in the Vancouver Field Hockey Association League in 2020. Loh earned MVP at the 2023 Calgary Gold Cup and the 2022 India Club U18 Tournament with Polar Bears Field Hockey Club. In the classroom, she earned First Class Honors with Distinction and the Academic Achievement Award.

Mackie Mann

Nazareth Area High School/Bath Buccaneers Hockey Club
 

Before Colgate
Mann played four years of varsity field hockey at Nazareth Area High School, logging a program-record 706 career saves, after recording 147 as a senior. She finished with 42 shutouts in her four years. Additionally, Mann holds the program record for most saves in a game (32), which she recorded her sophomore season. She was a three-time Second Team All-Eastern Pennsylvania Conference selection (2020-22) and a First Team selection as a senior (2023). Mann was a two-time Second Team All-State honoree (2021, 2022) and garnered Team MVP accolades. The goalie also took on captain duties during her senior year. She helped the squad finish second in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference during the 2022 campaign. Mann played club for Philly Hockey Club, helping the team win the JPOL U19 League and take gold at the Disney Showcase in 2022. The club also qualified for the U19 National Indoor Tournament in 2021. Academically, she was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad, earned the PHSFHCA Scholar Athlete Award, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Phillips Exeter Academy/Saints FHC/Seacoast United

 
Before Colgate
Rose was a four-year varsity member at Phillips Exeter Academy, tallying five goals and four assists as a senior while serving as team captain. She also helped the team to a 10-win season. Rose played club for Saints FHC and Seacoast United. She was a member of the NEXUS Region 3-4 Team in 2022-23 and was selected to the NECC Tournament All Star Team. On the academic side, she was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad in 2022.

Welusz played four years of varsity field hockey at Seneca High School, recording 65 points with 22 goals and 21 assists during her career after tallying 12 goals and six assists as a senior. She was a three-time First Team All-Olympic Conference selection (2021-23) and a two-time Second Team All-South Jersey honoree (2022, 2023). As a senior, Welusz was named Second Team All-Group 2 and was a Senior South Jersey All Star Game selection. Additionally, she earned Third Team All-Group 2 in 2022 and garnered a spot on the NJ Top 100 all four years. Welusz served as team captain during both her junior and senior years and earned the program's Coaches Award in 2023. She helped the squad to a NJ South West B Sectional championship (2020) and a NJ Group 2 South championship (2021). Welusz played club for Spirit of U.S.A and WC Eagles. Helped SOU win two Disney Sunshine Showcase pool championships (2022-2023) and two JPOL championships (2020, 2022). Also was a member of club teams that won multiple RCC, NCC, and NIT championships, including the 2024 U19 title with WC Eagles. She played in the NEXUS Championships and National Player Combine in 2021. Academically, Welusz was a member of the National Honor Society and was also named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad.
