COACH TAYLOR'S COMMENTS

"I felt coming off our 0-5 start, we were well prepared for our first Patriot League contest. This past week we worked hard on the draw and that paid off. Our offensive output was the best it's been since our game with Binghamton but still not enough. I believe our defense played brilliantly in holding a very talented Holy Cross offense to five in the first half, however we gave up far too many goals in the third quarter.  We knew they were going to come out strong in the third quarter and yet we struggle when a team makes a run against us. We have struggled all year in moments like this and we will have to figure that out to find the wins this team is capable of producing. We will learn from this game and prepare for our Tuesday game with Siena."

HOW IT HAPPENED

Devon Maillet opened the Raiders account 50 seconds in before Lauren Thompson scored her second goal of the season as Colgate jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Holy Cross scored three unanswered to take a 3-2 advantage but Nelle Kniffin found Sarah Marcovici with just over one tick left on the clock giving the Raiders an equalizing goal just before the horn.

Kyra Lucey scored her fifth of the season sandwiched between two Crusader goals early in the second quarter. Colgate finished the first half with four unanswered goals beginning with Lucy Licata scoring her sixth of the season tying the game at five a piece. Lucey, Marcovici, and Maillet each scored their second goals of the day to end the first half with the Raiders ahead 8-5.

Holy Cross scored eight unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a 13-8 lead.

Licata and Kait Henning were able to convert two goals each at the tail end of the game but ultimately, the Raiders fell 15-13.
